Truespace MLB's

Converting MLB's

Got truespace5 or 6 and are just wondering how to get your "old" TS Material Libraries working in TS5/6? Follow the steps below and enjoy your mlb's in TS5:

At first a "preparing step": In the TS5 image browser uncheck "copy files" to prevent Truespace from copying the textures into the textures folder. To get a clear overview which textures belong to a specific mlb it is easiest when you organize your mlb's in this way: For each mlb create a folder with only the belonging picture files in it. altough this is not an absolute necessary step, it just makes organizing your textures much easier. Next copy(or move) all your mlbs to the TS5 "Libraries" subfolder. For the picture textures I've created a subfolder in the TS5 Textures folder called "mlb textures". If you have organized your "old" mlb textures the way I've described above, copy (or move) all your "texture folders" to the "mlb texture"" folder. Start TS5 and click the material library icon. If you now select "load library" youl find all your mlb's listed there (marked read only). When you now load on of them Treuspace converts and saves it to the new mtl. format If picture textures belong to the just loaded mlb you'll be prompted to search for this textures.Select the folder where the textures are located (you should know this from former TS versions) - mark the texture and you are done. Eventually you'll be prompted to add this folder to the texture path. Repeat these steps for all mlb's you want to convert. After converting the mlb's, the original files are still there. If you don't need them anymore you can delete them. Either from TS or with the windows explorer. If you have copied (not moved) your mlb's (and the picture textures) to the TS5 subdirectories, you can now delete the original folders too. Enjoy your old mlb's in TS5
