Golden RulesGolden Rules

  • Be patient
  • Only in very rare cases the first attempt of your scene will satisfy you. There will be a lot of test renders, re-arrangings and other changes to your scene. So save your scenes under different file names(scene1 , scene2, etc). You're then able to pick up a backup file if your actual changes don't fit up your needs. This strategy is a real time saver and avoids too much frustration. Just believe me here.....
  • But the most important part is: practice, practice practice Join one ore more mailing lists. The guys on the list have a lot of tips for you.
  • Look out If you want to create realistic looking pictures or animations you have to study the things. Look how objects look in real live.
  • Look how creatures walk. If you have an excellent modelled horse that jumps like a frog, your animation will look funny but not realistic. After a short time of practice you'll get an eye for this stuff.
  • Be creative If you're intended to build that frog-jumping horse - go for it. In computer created graphics you don't have the limitations real live has. Altough snow is white on earth, it could be read on planet X-146 in outa space :-).
  • Try out different view points of your scene, it's quick and easy to change the camera position.
  • Create a "point of interest" in you scene. Ten of this great modelled "time machines" in one scene could be confusing. Model small, render large Small scenes are easier to handle than large ones.
  • If you want to render in a larger resolution you can set up a higer output size in Bryce and Truespace. The only thing you have to keep in mind is the correct aspect ratio.
